Hi,
I am trying to add a new WMTS data source with the capabilities URL:
https://karttakuva.maanmittauslaitos.fi/maasto/wmts/1.0.0/WMTSCapabilities.xml
The capabilities request requires username and password that I have added
in the "New WMTS Connection" form but when I try to save the connection
there is error: WMTS Connection test failed: Server returned HTTP response
code: 401 for URL:
https://karttakuva.maanmittauslaitos.fi/maasto/wmts/1.0.0/WMTSCapabilities.xml?REQUEST=GetCapabilities&VERSION=1.0.0&SERVICE=WMTS

The GeoServer version is 2.12.2 and the logs show error message:
"2018-03-05 18:18:25,766 ERROR [data.ows] - Failed to execute request
https://karttakuva.maanmittauslaitos.fi/maasto/wmts/1.0.0/WMTSCapabilities.xml?REQUEST=GetCapabilities&VERSION=1.0.0&SERVICE=WMTS
".
If I go to the URL with a web browser and provide the username and password
the capabilities document shows without problems.
I also tried to copy the Authorization header from the web browser
developer console to the new WMTS connection form but this results in the
same error.
One can get username and password for testing without cost (the account is
closed after a month) but the order form is in Finnish only:
http://www.maanmittauslaitos.fi/en/lomakkeet/tilaus_rajapintapalvelun_koekayt
There is a bit similar bug report,
https://osgeo-org.atlassian.net/browse/GEOS-8388, but the problem does not
seem to be the same.
