I did
gdaladdo -r average mytiff.tif 2 4 8 16
which sped it up to around 500ms expect for on closer zooms.
I am not sure how I can do this
gdal_translate -of GTiff -projwin -180 90 -50 -10 -co "TILED=YES"
bigDataSet.ecw myTiff.tiff
I don't have an ecw file. Just the provided tiff from the FAA.
