Without knowing anything my guess is that there is something going on in the
raster to world
trasformation, maybe a numerical error that is only visible at lower scales?
Or else some issue in the overviews, if there are any.
Hard to say without looking at the data, can you share a group of 4 tiles
for further investigation?
