I been using Seamonkey for about 6 years now. I've changed hard drives and did a clean reinstall recently. I have yet to loose a single byte of data. I even manage to keep emails when I change email addys. Works so far. After all, all that is in there is emails. If I had a setting problem, I would just delete everything but the email directory.
