I don't know if we on the *user* list really can know about the devs' decisions. Maybe gentoo-dev list or irc channel could give better answers? AFAIK the devs rarely reply on this list. I found one comment which appears to be quite insightful of the situation (I don't use mysql that much, so I have to take this at face value), although it doesn't give exact time frames: http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=194561#c25 Eating your data is bad for a database and if that was the situation a bit over a month ago, I wouldn't hold my breath for a stable marked ebuild in portage for a while. -- Arttu V.
