[gentoo-user] OSS4: no sound with 4GB RAM

I'm on AMD64.  I'm using OSS4 and sound doesn't work with 4GB RAM 
(silence or noise).  Works fine with 2GB.  Anyone encountered something 
like this before?

OSS 4.1_rc2. Kernel 2.6.27.7 (2.6.27-gentoo-r4).
