I just ran strace on 4.80 and 4.81. Both process /proc/meminfo, seemingly successfully. However 4.81 quits after that while 4.80 continues with /var/run/nscd/socket. I've uploaded the 2 strace outputs to bgo. I think I'll dig a bit deeper and see what more I can learn. Cheers! David
