I finally gave up and let it install the old version of gentoo-sources (and then I went and deleted all of the files). It's got to be a bug in portage, but I can't figure out what triggers it. My other systems don't do it, and I can't find any differences between the systems that seem relevant. -- Grant Edwards grante Yow!
