I'm not sure how the init script will react to the nested quotes
instead of parentheses here. The syntax in the examples is

preferred_aps_wlan0=( "baladei-wifi" "dlink" )

If the fixed net config doesn't help, try disabling WPA on the access
point and see if it then connects.
