Do you want simple key=value pair (perl hash, associative array, etc) where one key gives one value? Your value may of course be tab separted sub values or anythig really. They are hard to search, but if you know the keys, always or often enough, they are simple. I don't know any package names, but Berkeley DB is one free source product.
