KDE desktop kde-base/kdebase-3.5.7 At some time in the recent past, something in my desktop setup knew when I highlighted a URL, and a little list would pop up in the bottom right corner of desktop with a short list of possible browsers to handle that type of URL.
It would see the URL in text files or command ouput or just about anywhere a URL could be highlighted. Must have been part of something I'd installed that needed no configuration.
