In this scheme, you'd be using ssh through the network, and not through serial or parallel ports. If you wanted to use a serial or parallel port, it's probably feasible, but a lot more work even than temporarily hooking up a keyboard and monitor so that you can set the root password and start SSH. I've done it once before with a serial cable on another system, but it required a lot more setup than would have been necessary if I could have simply networked them together.
