It's me again. I found more strange things about my problem. I think I'm getting closer:
arp -n in the Gentoo Station reports: 169.254.0.1 (incomplete) ath0 Where 169.254.0.1 is the address of the AP. tcpdump -vv -i ath0 arp: 20:50:21.984182 arp who-has 169.254.0.1 tell 169.254.0.3 While I'm pinging the AP, I got "truncated-arp" messages in the AP "tcpdump -vv ath0 arp" output. The Station machine just got two replies: 64 bytes from 169.254.0.1: icmp_seq=424 ttl=64 time=0.400 ms 64 bytes from 169.254.0.1: icmp_seq=426 ttl=64 time=2998 ms It seems like my problem has something to do with the "Signal Too Strong" http://madwifi.org/wiki/FAQ/SignalTooStrong issue. I will move the AP to a place far from the station. So far no one replied to this, but I will keep posting in the hope that my attempts to make this works helps someone in the future. Another thing... I've loaded the ath_pci module with debug options and it gave me lots of information.
