After that, you might still be able to get your data back. Neil suggested earlier today to use a LiveCD that supports madwifi - Knoppix would do. If that is too much of a hassle, how difficult can it be to get your hands on a crossover cable? If you can't crimp one yourself, buy one for approximately $2.99. I can do that even here in Africa.
