                > Generic/default IDE chipset support

I do have that option enabled.

Running hdparm on /dev/hda ...
HDIO_SET_DMA failed: Operation not permitted
Running hdparm on /dev/hdc ...
HDIO_SET_DMA failed: Operation not permitted

Here's my /etc/conf.d/hdparm :

hda_args="-d 1 -A 1 -m 16 -u 1 -a 64"
hdc_args="-d 1"

Could this be because I have support for my motherboard chipset in the
kernel and it has control?
