1. Do you know what version of lvm was used to create your logical volumes? 2. What version are you using now? 3. Can you post the output of 'grep -v -e "^ *#" -e "^ *$" /etc/lvm/lvm.conf' In particular, lvm2 versions 2.02.03 and 2.02.04 are known to have trouble with metadata.
