My sound "card" is an onboard AC97 device. lspci tells me: Multimedia audio controller: VIA Technologies, Inc. VT8233/A/8235/8237 AC97 Audio Controller (rev 60) The distortion only happens, when there is an original sound also...so it has nothing to do with the cableing.
