Thanks y lot Marco !

 ...currently I am fighting the hiss distorted sound, which
 results when the capture is set on on the line in channel
 by any volume of capture itsself.

 My sound "card" is an onboard AC97 device. lspci tells me:

  Multimedia audio controller: VIA Technologies, Inc. VT8233/A/8235/8237 AC97 
Audio Controller (rev 60)

 The distortion only happens, when there is an original sound
 also...so it has nothing to do with the cableing. 

 Sound without capturing is clear and fine, though.

 I currently have no clue, what there is going on and how to fix
 that...

 Keep hacking!
