There is one caveat to this, I if you are running a 802.11 wifi, the MAC is sent in the packets and then MAC filtering could be a rudimentary deterrent for basic attacks. As mentioned however, it is absolutely possible and trivial to 'spoof' a MAC. -- gentoo-user@gentoo.org mailing list
