Maybe Gnome is overriding the keyboard setting, doing a setxkbmap of its own? Putting it .xinitrc then comes too early. Try putting it in .bashrc and make a Terminal open on every startup? On make Gnome stop setting the keyboard. Benno -- gentoo-user@gentoo.org mailing list
