Restore the defaults to the router.  They are pretty good at working out of 
the box.  

You using DHCP or static IPs?  Can all the computers (once rebuilt) get to the 
internet?  
Even if you can't ping from the Windows box, you can ping from linux.  
Try 'ipconfig /all' in the cmd box on the Windows box.  
If more help is needed, I can send my smb.conf file to you for a reference.  
*Anything* of any importance on my home network lives in linux land.  All the 
other non-linux boxes get photos/music/office/cdrom jukebox files through the 
samba network.  
On the Windows side, all I do is "Map Network Drive" from explorer.  Browse 
your network.  If Samba is set up right, it 'just works'.
