Yes, it's very rude to send in anything other than plain-text. HTML is for web sites, not email. RTF is for dorks with nothing better to do other than format their text. There really isn't a need for it - if you have something to say that can't be expressed in plain-text, it's probably too forceful for public expression! > Simply click on "plain text".
