In the upgrade from Linux 2.6.14.7 to Linux 2.6.15 the mixer item
"Headphone" was lost. This is with the driver intel8x0. The biggest
problem with this regression is that it makes it impossible to turn off
the internal speakers of the Dell Inspiron 8600 and only have sound when
something is connected to the headphone port.
Is there a fix or workaround for this problem? Did anyone else even
notice?
Are you sure this is not related to the last alsa related updates?
It is certainly related to ALSA somehow, but what updates are you
thinking of? I doubt it is the last updates, since the change was
between 2.6.14.7 and 2.6.15, which was a while ago. I have just looked
at the diff between 2.6.14.7 and 2.6.15. I did not see anything obvious,
but it is huge, so I may have missed something.
I have built a couple of kernels and see that it works fine when I boot
with 2.6.14.7 or earlier and fails when I boot 2.6.15 or later.
