Hi,

 Hoston, we have a problem...

I try to get "Turboprint" running for my Canon i865 printer.

On my old system, this works in combination with cups without
 much hassle.

On my current system (Gentoo...) it does not.

As I understand the whole thing, Turboprint installs a filter called
 tpprint, which cups uses.

 Turboprint writes a log file:

...as far as I could interpret that output, everything runs fine
until cups is called. And cups does not find the "cups device" --
 whatever this means.

In the Turboprint configuration I said "/dev/usb/lp0" is the correct
device and the configuration gui is able to access the printer
(getting the ink usage info from the printer). So, the device could
 not be THAT wrong.

Since the problem exists even when trying to print as root, I think
 it is no permission problem.

I compared the user/group settings of different directories of the
old and new system and found nothing being obviously wrong.

 Lost ?

If anyone coudl help me to find the bug.... ? :)

Thanks a lot in advance for any helpful reply !

 Have a nice sunday!
 mcc
