That line should have been in xorg.conf ;-) Have you read http://gentoo-wiki.com/HARDWARE_Synaptics_Touchpad ? > made the touchpad work in > fluxbox with any kind of app (gtk, qt, etc...). but in kde it stop > working when kde splash says its starting the window manager. > > any other clue? My mouse and my touchpah (HP Pavilion dv5078ea) work well. Perhaps you should look again at your xorg.conf. In my xorg.conf there are two "InputDevice" sections: Section "InputDevice" Identifier "Mouse1" Driver "mouse" Option "Protocol" "ImPS/2" Option "ZAxisMapping" "4 5" Option "Device" "/dev/input/mice" EndSection Section "InputDevice" Driver "synaptics" Identifier "TouchPad" Option "Device" "/dev/input/mouse0" Option "Protocol" "auto-dev" Option "LeftEdge" "1700" Option "RightEdge" "5300" Option "TopEdge" "1700" Option "BottomEdge" "4200" Option "FingerLow" "25" Option "FingerHigh" "30" Option "MaxTapTime" "180" Option "MaxTapMove" "220" Option "VertScrollDelta" "100" Option "MinSpeed" "0.09" Option "MaxSpeed" "0.18" Option "AccelFactor" "0.0015" Option "SHMConfig" "on" EndSection In the second section, your Option "Device" should be: Option "Device" "/dev/input/mouse1" because of your /proc/bus/input/devices.
