All of a sudden, when I go to a page with a Java application, mozilla-firefox crashes. Run from a terminal, this message is shown:
[EMAIL PROTECTED] ~/.mozilla $ firefox No running windows found java_vm process: could not find Java VM symbols INTERNAL ERROR on Browser End: Could not read ack from child process System error?:: No such file or directory firefox-bin exited with non-zero status (255) [EMAIL PROTECTED] ~/.mozilla $ set |grep -i ^j JAVAC=/opt/sun-jdk-1.4.2.10/bin/javac JAVA_HOME=/opt/sun-jdk-1.4.2.10 JDK_HOME=/opt/sun-jdk-1.4.2.10 * www-client/mozilla-firefox [ Masked ] Latest version available: 1.5.0.1-r2 Latest version installed: 1.0.7-r2 * dev-java/sun-jdk Latest version available: 1.4.2.10-r2 Latest version installed: 1.4.2.10-r2 Size of downloaded files: 35,604 kB Homepage: http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.2/ Description: Sun's J2SE Development Kit License: sun-bcla-java-vm I notice that all the 1.0.7 versions of firefox are masked too. When I do about:plugins in firefox, the entire Java applet shows as enabled. (from about:plugins) Java(TM) Plug-in 1.4.2_10-b03 File name: libjavaplugin_oji.so Java(TM) Plug-in 1.4.2_10 followed by all active mimetypes. I did not update firefox or java recently. Although I did update to gcc 3.4.5 from 3.4.4. I am sure it's something minor, but before I waste time recompiling, downloading etc, perhaps there's a notice I missed somewhere? Any guidance appreciated. TIA -- Peter -- gentoo-user@gentoo.org mailing list
