Well, for hotplug, I'm not sure. It has been too long since I ran a 2.4 kernel. There are _massive_ improvements in hotplug support in 2.6 over 2.4. For persistent device names, udev is the only way. -Richard -- gentoo-user@gentoo.org mailing list
