*I'm just guessing here, but there are a couple of USE flags for
dev-util/perf that look as if they might try to trace some syscalls
inside the kernel. The CONFIG_FRAME_POINTER flag forces the kernel to be
built with debugging symbols. Whether you need that,or not, probably
depends on exactly which features of perf you intend to use.*
