Some more info.  This may be even worse and not sure if this variable is
all of the problem.  I can't open any files, video, text or anything.
All of my file associations are gone.  I can use the short cuts I added
but when I click on the Kmenu, nothing except logging out, shutdown
etc.  There is NOTHING else.  Every file I click on, it asks what to do
with it and there is no list to click on.  I have to dig in /usr/bin for
most apps.  Oh, Smplayer is bonkers as well.  It just starts switching
through the list of files to play.  Only plays for a second or so.

I just finished my updates.  This update isn't going well.  Oh, when I
removed my background slideshow, the CPU went back to normal.  No clue
why a background image would cause the CPU to go nuts like that.  Still,
I'd like to set that variable for future compatibility.  It's went unset
long enough.

Now to go back to previous version of KDE.  I don't like this new one.
o_O  :/
