In the first instance you can try it with just a new mozilla profile: mkdir /tmp/FF firefox --profile /tmp/FF and see if it continues to misbhave. If it does, then there must be some setting in your user's Firefox profile which is causing this problem. If the problem remains, then it must have something to do with the latest version you have emerged.
