I do not see anything particular in your emerge --info. What is your eselect version ? > $ eselect --version You can get bash debug output by running the following : > $ bash -x /usr/bin/eselect profile list 2> /tmp/debug.log Hopefully this will show what's going on into /tmp/debug.log.
