Not sure if it's what you're looking for, but you may want to check the contents of the /etc/gentoo-release and /etc/lsb-release files. I think lots of other distros have the same basic /etc/<distro>-release file that you could check for too. :-/ --Peter -- gentoo-user@gentoo.org mailing list
