That sounds completely wrong, actually. The contents of /var/tmp are expected to survive a system crash, as that is where vi, emacs, libreoffice et al are expected to store their recovery logs. Not much point putting the logs somewhere where they will be deleted by the very occurrence they are intended to protect against ... And yes, the rules for /tmp are "don't expect to find anything you put there will be there a few minutes later ..." :-) Cheers, Wol
