There's a question on the forums about this, and they 
explain there how toi install it. It only needs to 
unmask xorg-x11 6.8.99 and install one package from the
new modular ones. Search there for more help.

I'm going to buy myself a Radeon 9600 this weekend
mainly because of the free software drivers.
