Umm... i didn't realize that! :p Until now I hadn't actually looked at the esync script. I guess while I was trying it out, subjectively it seemed to do its thing faster. Perhaps that was down to the fact it calls emerge with the verbose option off, which provides less overhead in the terminal. But obviously that is easy enough to do from the command line as well.
