Problem solved.
/usr/lib/opengl/xorg-x11/lib/libGL.a and
/usr/lib/opengl/xorg-x11/lib/libGL.so
existed but the links for the /usr/lib directory did not.  I linked them
in and everything is fine.  I'm not sure why the links weren't already
there.  Sorry for posting when the problem was easily solved.
