As noted earlier, I'm still using openrc but I have systemd installed, as well. Meanwhile, I have re-installed syslog-ng-3.6.1 WITHOUT the systemd use flag. Now, it works just fine. Should I make a bug report on this? Many thanks to all who have helped, Helmut
