It acted like I had no internet connection at all. The lights on my modem didn't even blink nor did the router. I always open it as root since that is where I do emerges and such as that. I also edit some files in /etc using it too. It is inside the regular GUI login tho. My point was, it was using root permissions to run ping and such when I tested it. Just in case it could be a permissions thing.
