I found something. journalctl -b told me that systemd was looking for /usr/sbin/lvm which does not exist. I linked it from /sbin/lvm and this seems to help ... I still don't know exactly where this comes from ... still digging. I also removed lvm2 completely ... checked for lvm-related unit-files and emerged it again ... no /usr/sbin/lvm found with grep. Maybe compiled into ... /usr/lib/systemd/system-generators/lvm2-activation-generator Will have to check the sources or similar.
