if the package uses autoconf/automake: ebuild /usr/portage/<cat>/<pkg>/<pkg>-<ver>.ebuild configure [edit Makefile] touch /var/tmp/portage/<cat>/</pkg>-<ver>/.configured ebuild /usr/portage/<cat>/<pkg>/<pkg>-<ver>.ebuild install
I think it would be easier to put the package in an overlay and edit the ebuild. Regards.
