Well, with 8Gb RAM, i recommend use tmpfs on PORTAGE_TMPDIR, just while u
are compiling anything.
Or even with 6Gb too.

I don't worry to much about use the SSD, the only thing that i do is use
distfiles, music/video/photos on HDD to safe space.
And the TMPDIR thing when i'm compiling a lot of things.
