Could you please copy & paste the output of /etc/fstab please? That could be the answer about the automounting problem! Regarding the problem about hibernation, can you use the terminal command pm-hibernate? If it does not work correctly then you may have something wrong with the pm-utils package (if that is what Gentoo uses, I have no idea).
