It doesn't make sense not to use the distro's recommended package manager (portage or even paludis). If you really like the script then compare what the portage ebuild does agains the script you are using and then ... use the ebuild! Otherwise you are bound to come across dependency conflicts sooner or later and end up with such a spaghetti in your hands that you will have to reinstall. -- Regards, Mick
