I meant to say: Most people don't find this "icon view" useless, as it allows one to select and play (or copy) a single track at a time. It is a useful "representation" of the songs on the CD. Most people find it *more useful* to be able to drag and drop the tracks to their MP3s folder, because they don't like having to physically find a CD, looking through hundreds of disks, and insert it into the drive. Far easier to drag and drop once, then just search for "fiona apple" in Gnome's file viewer or in their music player. TL;DR: you're sounding dangerously like a grumpy old man. In this latter case: it's not necessarily "bad" just because it's unfamiliar to you. Stroller.
