In fact, "gcc-config -l" is a good way to see which versions of gcc are installed. Then you can just set it with that command as above, or "gcc-config 2", for instance, if you wanted to use the second gcc entry. You have to reset your environment to use it immediately, but that's easy enough: env-update; exec bash -l.
