Last time I checked, the ATAPI:0,0,0 device syntax requires root privileges.  
You can use /dev/hdx instead so that the kernel can figure out the permissions.

cdrecord: Drive does not support TAO recording.
cdrecord: Illegal write mode for this drive.

Try -dao instead, or try cdrdao instead of cdrecord.
