http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=62644 Attached to this bug there is a new version of revdep-rebuild that allows you to add SEARCH_DIRS_MASK="/opt/openoffice /opt/thunderbird" to /etc/make.conf and it will ignore them completely.
