Unless you know your net-card brand/model you can't config/use exept by chance. Use your current system or boot from a Live-CD (install CD or Knoppix, other) and run: "lspci". Then (for e100) in your kernel-config go to: ->Device Drivers -->Networking support --->Ethernet (10 or 100Mbit) ----> Inter (R) PRO/100+ support. Make sure it's ON [*] (or [M] for a module). HTH.
