Go to /home/name/.thunderbird/9qflya66.default(yours may be
different)prefs.js and add this;
user_pref("network.protocol-handler.app.http", "/usr/bin/firefox");
user_pref("network.protocol_handler.app.ftp", "usr/bin/firefox");
user_pref("network.protocol_handler.app.https", "/usr/bin/firefox");
