Is this on the same port on the same computer? I ask because I am pretty sure that the current capability of the USB bus is a physical characteristic of the computer, and not under software control. There is a minimum current that the USB bus is required to be able to provide (250mA seems about right), but a specific implementation is free to provide more power. The USB bus on my computer provides enough power for my 2.5" USB disk, a flash disk, USB mouse, laptop cooling pad, and a USB powered light/fan. You might need to find/buy a cable for your disk to draw power from the PS/2 port, or another type of cable that takes up 2 USB ports and thus provides double the power. -Richard -- gentoo-user@gentoo.org mailing list
