I did a stage1-install,gentoo 2005.0 on a amd 64.
Everything seemed to be allright.
Except that I cannot login as root after booting the new gentoo.
I tried it with passwd after chrooting to my root-partition
from the installationcd.Allso I tried to blank out the root-entry
from /etc/shadow to ::::::
The same things I tried after booting in single-usermode.
In any case Iget 'login incorrect' when I try to login as root
into my new installation.

The weird thing is that I can create a user account and set a
password for it in the chrooted envirenment.
So I can only login as user and not as root.

I forgot something silly?
Or I better do it over with par exemple stage3?

Thx for help
